The people at Jellyfish Art are making it possible for you to have your own pet jellyfish. Historically the problem with having jellyfish in a regular fish tank was they keep getting sucked into the filters. So Jellyfish Art is creating new types of fish tanks made just for jellyfish. They currently sell eight and forty gallon tanks. Now through Kickstarter they have this interesting 7 gallon version.
A few pricing details:
Their new Desktop Jellyfish Tank and Starter Kit costs $350 though Kickstarter. It comes with everything needed to have your own pet jellyfish. The jellyfish are sold separately from Jellyfish Art for about $40 apiece. Buying through Kickstarter gets you a $50 voucher towards their $150 beginner’s package, which is 3 jellyfish and a six month supply of food.
Here's a video showing how to feed the jellyfish. With proper care, they say pet jellyfish can be kept alive and healthy for at least 2 years.
Interesting, but I'm not sure this is the right pet for me.
